Health Risks in a Brazilian Cerrado Population Due to Pathogens Transmitted through Water and Land Use Conditions

Cryptosporidium and Giardia are pathogenic agents which cause risk to public health. The goal of this research was evaluate the infection by cryptosporidiosis giardiasis in a population Cerrado biome its relation land use. Raw water samples were collected from 41 different surface sources state Goiás (Brazil). parasites quantified via membrane filtration method. probability an individual contracting after consuming contaminated estimated using quantitative microbial assessment. Generally, analyzed watersheds (WS) presented cysts 63.4% (<LD at 116.67 cysts/L) oocysts 87.8% 300 oocysts/L).
